In the context of the rapidly evolving digital era, the management of documents faces persistent challenges related to data security and integrity. Blockchain technology, recognized as an innovative meta-technology, offers substantial potential to address these issues. This study aims to explore the impact of blockchain technology on document management through a comprehensive analysis of scientific publications between 2014 and 2024. A total of 517 articles from the Web of Science and Scopus databases were systematically reviewed. The findings provide a detailed overview of the current state and significance of blockchain technology in document management, highlighting its advantages, limitations, and associated challenges. Furthermore, this study identifies several key research questions and future directions, offering valuable insights for both researchers and practitioners in the field.
