ENLIGHTENMENT AND EDUCATION IN PSYCHOLOGY: TOOLS FOR IMPROVING MENTAL LITERACY

The article examines the differences and complementary features of two key concepts in modern applied psychology: psychological enlightenment and psychological education. It analyses the historical and philosophical roots of the term ‘psychological enlightenment’, models of psychological education in psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practice, as well as contemporary approaches to the implementation of educational and enlightenment practices in society. Particular attention is paid to the psychoeducational model of helping people with borderline personality disorder. The conclusion is made about the need to integrate educational and training strategies as the basis for the formation of the psychological culture of society and the prevention of mental disorders.
