ENSURING GENDER PARITY: KYRGYZSTAN AND WORLD PRACTICE

Abstract

The article reveals the idea of ​​ensuring gender parity in the implementation of Kyrgyzstan’s national policy on the examples of democratic states that have achieved success in women representation in politics. The authors refer to United Nations policy documents as model commitments to gender equality, in particular women's participation in political processes and decision-making. The main argument of the article is that gender equality is connected with the fundamental concepts of social justice, human rights and democracy. In other words, gender equality is an important attribute of democratic society and state. The fundamental concepts that supporters of gender equality rely on are the concept of human rights and democracy. Democracy must take into account the points of view and interests of different groups of the population. And, of course, that also includes women, who make up more than a half of the population in Kyrgyz Republic.
