ETHNODEMOGRAPHIC PROCESSES IN THE SOUTHERN REGION OF KYRGYZSTAN: POPULATION DYNAMICS AND CHANGES IN ETHNIC COMPOSITION

Following the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, socio-economic and political reforms were implemented under the conditions of a market economy. The various challenges faced by the country influenced the population’s development dynamics, composition, and characteristics. Therefore, the study of ethnodemographic processes in the republic is one of the current relevant issues.
This article presents an ethno-sociological study of the population dynamics and changes in the ethnic composition in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan during the period from 1989 to 2022. Statistical data and ethnodemographic processes are analyzed, with key factors affecting these changes identified, including population growth, migration processes, and socio-economic conditions. Special attention is given to interethnic relations and their impact on the demographic situation.
Based on data characteristics and the results of ethno-sociological studies, recommendations are provided to improve interethnic interaction, as this is an essential condition for ensuring social stability.
