OMURKUL KARAEV IS THE FIRST KYRGYZ SCIENTIST ORIENTALIST

Abstract

The article is devoted to the scientific activity of the first Kyrgyz orientalist, doctor of historical sciences, professor O. Karaev. Undoubtedly, with his tireless work, he made a significant contribution to the study of the history of the Middle Ages, the source of knowledge, the political genesis of a number of states both on the territory of modern Kyrgyzstan and the region of Central Asia. His scientific interpretations and views on the ethnogenesis of the Kyrgyz people are very important. A number of his works were devoted to the origin of the Kyrgyz people, the term "Kyrgyz" in Chinese, Arabic-Persian sources, the study of the relationship between the Yenisei and Tien Shan Kyrgyz. O. Karaev was a true orientalist, in the classical sense of the word, who among the Kyrgyz was the first to widely and comprehensively study, analyze, translate the works of Arabic-Persian authors of the 9th-16th centuries from the original, which does credit to him. He left many works on the history of the Kyrgyz and Kyrgyzstan, a number of Turkic states, primarily about the Karakhanids, the origin, formation, development and collapse of the Сhingizid states in the vast territory of Central Asia.
