TRENDS IN DIGITAL INTEREST IN THE ‘MANAS’ EPIC AND THE HERITAGE OF THE EAST: AN ANALYSIS OF RUSSIAN-LANGUAGE SEARCH QUERIES ON GOOGLE TRENDS

This study examines the interest shown by modern internet users in the epic heritage of the East, using the Kyrgyz epic ‘Manas’, the Indian poem ‘Ramayana’ and the Malay hikayat ‘The Tale of Hang Tuah’ as case studies. Big Data technologies and the capabilities of Google Trends web analytics were used as the primary research tools. The analysis was conducted using statistics on global search queries in Russian from 2004 to the present day to ensure the objectivity of the data. The study revealed evidence of the successful integration of the ‘Manas’ epic into the digital environment. A marked upward trend in interest in the epic was identified in December 2023, indicating a link to the celebration of Manas Epic Day in Kyrgyzstan. Geographical analysis helped to identify countries with heightened interest in the epic.
