Abstract

The article examines the historical process of the introduction of Islam to the territory of present-day Kyrgyzstan. It analyzes the main stages of the religion’s spread from the 8th century through trade routes and political structures, the role of the Samanid and Karakhanid states, and the synthesis of Islamic traditions with Kyrgyz nomadic culture. Special attention is given to the influence of Sufi movements, the transformation of religious life during the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, and the revival of Islamic institutions after independence. Islamic heritage is highlighted as an important factor in the spiritual, cultural, and social development of the country.
