This article examines the influence of Islam on the formation of customs and traditions of the Kyrgyz people. The historical process of Islamization of the Kyrgyz from the 10th to 18th centuries is examined, and the transformation of traditional beliefs under the influence of Islamic culture is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the syncretism of Islamic and pre-Islamic elements in family rituals, funeral traditions, and religious holidays. The study reveals the specificity of Kyrgyz Islam, characterized by a long period of adaptation and preservation of certain elements of shamanism. Contemporary problems of religious identity and prospects for the development of Islamic culture in Kyrgyz society are analyzed.
