Abstract

The presented article examines the legal norms of the countries of the Ancient East, the features of the legal system using the example of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Babylon. The concept of "Ancient East" occupies a large geographical territory and includes such countries as Ancient Egypt, Ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient China, Ancient India. The countries of the Ancient East made a huge contribution to the formation of world culture. The most important aspect of studying the legal history of these states is that the social inequality of slaves, who were considered as a legal object of slave society, is closely related to the social inequality of free people. The law of the Ancient East is closely related to religion and religious morality. The main source of law in the ancient Eastern states was custom, which had been formed over the centuries. Also, in the Middle East, irrigation systems were created earlier than in other regions of settled agriculture. Agriculture, exchange of goods, trade and legal relations, the establishment of contacts with other peoples developed much earlier, since people began to receive relatively stable harvests.
