THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES ON THE COMMISSION OF VIOLENT CRIMES AGAINST MINORS

Abstract

The article deals with minors who are at increased risk, this is due to the fact that the virtual space provides an opportunity, including criminals, to commit illegal encroachments against this category. In modern conditions, due to age characteristics, the younger generation does not have the ability to correctly perceive the information presented on the Internet in order to distinguish law-abiding Internet users from intruders. This article presents the results of a pilot study in which the authors found that the use of digital media by minors has not only advantages, but also hidden risks and threats, since information technology is used by criminals to commit crimes against adolescents, which is facilitated by the wide reach of the youth audience, the anonymity of the virtual interlocutor, etc. Finally, the authors came to the conclusion that the number of violent and sexual crimes against adolescents is increasing in a digital environment, and propose to combine the efforts of parents with the far-right authorities and scientists to prepare an effective system for regulating the consumption of information products by minors in a digital environment.
