The article explores issues related to both the role of the individual in history and the specifics of the social and political life of Russia in the early 20th century. Using the example of Grigory Rasputin, it is possible to assess the significance of the subjective factor - namely, the ability of a particular individual to influence the course of the historical process, to accelerate or slow down events and phenomena that cause the transformation of the state and social system, major changes in the international arena.
