Abstract

Relevance. The “Basmachi movement” against the Bolsheviks who came to power in the Fergana Valley was one-sidedly distorted in Soviet historiography as an anti-Soviet reactionary movement within the framework of the Marxist theory of class struggle. In the first years of independence, this movement, especially by Uzbek historians, began to be viewed as a national liberation movement of the local population against Russian colonialism and Soviet power. It is within the framework of this new concept that research has now revealed that the majority of the local population of Turkestan voluntarily joined the Basmachi movement. However, the local population that supported the "Basmachi movement" gradually ceased to support it as Soviet power strengthened. The local population, exhausted by the civil war, began to be massively involved in the party, social and economic reforms of the Soviet government. However, this peace did not last long. Since 1926, the Basmachi movement has been reviving in the southern regions of the Kyrgyz Autonomous Region. The front position from the valley moved to the mountainous regions of southern Kyrgyzstan bordering China and Afghanistan. The purpose of our research is to reveal the history of military actions and the mysterious death of Aitmerek kurbashi Toktomandzhiev, originally from Alaikuu, based on historical sources and archival information.
