Abstract

The article discusses the Swiss psychotherapist and founder of analytical psychology, who introduced the archetypal concept of personality Carl Gustav Jung. Unlike Freud, Jung rejected the idea that the human unconscious consists only of repressed traumatic memories and desires. For Jung, the unconscious is not only a repository of repressed memories, but also an active, creative force that influences consciousness and behavior. Jung described several archetypes, each of which represents universal symbols or images that every person encounters in their process of mental development. These archetypes serve as the basis for the formation of personality structure, they influence the perception of the world and the ways of interacting with it. Archetypes exist in the collective unconscious, which means that they are universal in nature, independent of the personal experience of each individual. However, they can also manifest themselves in the individual unconscious of a person, and their integration and awareness become important stages in the process of individuation.
