Abstract

This article analyses how anti‑Russian sanctions imposed since 2022 have affected Kyrgyzstan’s economic relationship with Russia, focusing on trade, remittances and the role of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The main objective of the research is to assess the indirect impact of sanctions on third-party countries, with a particular focus on Kyrgyzstan, whose economy is highly dependent on Russia. The study employs a mixed-methods approach: quantitative data (trade statistics, remittance flows) are combined with qualitative methods. The findings indicate that sanctions have produced both negative consequences and unexpected opportunities for Kyrgyzstan. The academic contribution of this study lies in analyzing how small states adapt to international sanctions, while the practical relevance is to provide evidence-based policy recommendations for Kyrgyzstan’s economic and trade strategies.
